Personal discomforts

About time to start a new blog far removed from previous experiences. The title is suitable in many different ways.
I am currently reading Jonathan Franzen's "The Discomfort Zone - A personal history", which is not only funny and enjoyable, but also reminds me way too much of myself as a teenager. Not that I personally tried too much to fit in, but I might have done the opposite, which eventually earned me a lot of respect in weird ways from others. Being voted the "best dressed person" in my yearbook, I couldn't help myself but be alarmed. Why did people always "disapprove" of my looks, extremely flared corduroys in red and purple, pink tops, glitter... I don't know. I was not only a walking example of a Rachel Stamp/Suede/Manics fan, I also couldn't care less about the others. The idea of jeans and GAP sweaters didn't appeal to me _one_little_bit_

I am also running through a personal discomfort zone, as well as professional one. As someone who is open to change and challenge in the workplace, I dislike it a lot on a personal level. But it is certainly for the better and while I shall leave this uncommented further, I'm sure I will speak about it more in the future.

As for now, a little funny add-on to this post! Rachel Stamp? Manics? Told you!

Thank goodness for hair straighteners! And better glasses. This one is obviously from my Travelcard London. Taken in my dark-blue room, dressed ready to head to Cologne for some dancing! Good times.
Another hilarious shot, this time shortly before my departure from Manchester with the worst mode of transport: Coach!

Anke and me ready to do something.... told you, the Manics thing stuck for a while. Shame you can't see my home-made Rachel Stamp shirt!
And Judith and me in London with our new flares. Bought in Camden, we really did stand out quite a bit in Unna! And only Judith and I would spend our holiday in London, hanging around, pretending to be locals at 15/16.
