4-0

Yesterday saw Germany beat Argentina in the quarter-finals of the World Cup. It was a heated and very exciting game, with an amazing score of 4-0 for Germany. I have to admit that this surprised me. I expected it to be a much closer call. But, to everyone's surprise, the German team scored very early on in the game, and managed another 3 goals in the second half. Well done!

Usually I don't really care much about football at all. My dad does though. And so do a lot of his friends. Especially his best friend. He joined us for he game, along with his wife. The wife, despite wearing a Germany football shirt, spent most of the time chatting to my mum about everything OTHER than football. But it was great to watch with them anyway. The excitement grew.... and with it, the clouds outside.
Planned was a massive barbecue after the game. Only, it was pouring by the time it was over. That did not stop us though....

A delicious mix of food was thrown on the grill...while most of the town seemed to be driving around, beeping furiously, to celebrate Germany's victory, and a lonely Vuvuzela player was desperately trying to sound less like a dying elephant. He failed miserably. The rain was much anticipated and brought great relief from the heat (at least my mum says so).

What I like about BBQing here is that it is such a relaxed affair. Stuff is just thrown on the table, no need for "fancy" plates or cutlery (one thing I really do NOT like about my parents is their obsession to use "good" china or something when having dinner together.... who in this day and age still differentiates?), wine, beer, laughter. It was great fun.

The shocking thing was that I was out there with all this stuff. I mean, really??? Yeah, I can marinate the food, no problem, but to leave me in charge of all of this... and the coal was not really behaving either.

The fish and seafood was my favorite. It was not only yummy, but also a great reminder that I should really eat more fish. Shame that I moved away from the sea!!
The big belly in the background is my dad's friend, as mentioned above. They brought a bottle of Lambrusco, the famous wine from Modena, or the Modena region, and it was yummy! (Nevermind that it is also known as a cheap wine all over the world!).

Fun was had, my hair went funny due to the rain and resulting humidity. Now I shall conclude this post, as I am currently in the process of dying my hair and it is time to wash it out!
