I am a geek and I love it

I love gadgets. I love playing with new technologies whenever I can. Isn't it awesome fun to find your way around a new toy? A new phone, a new camera, a new computer....
Quite honestly, I installed Ubuntu on my laptop ONLY because I wanted to toy around with it.
It is like going to a new adventure land.... playing on a new playground. I also learn a lot during this. (Oh, I can feel a play and learn blog post for my teaching blog coming up here).

Now, I used to iPhone. I liked my iPhones. My first one ... broke. Well, it broke twice to be honest. The first time it broke 30 min of its arrival at my home. I was playing around with it in the kitchen when Lola, my cute little dog that moved to New York when I moved to Italy, jumped on me and I dropped the phone... on the kitchen tiles.
Of course, you may think "she isn't so tall" but even the short distance to the ground did not help. The touch screen was a bit off. The next day it got exchanged for free at the T-Mobile shop. Fun fun!
It lasted a while... about 4 month. Then my mum came to visit in Pisa, and when I dropped her off at the airport the unbelievable happened. Holding onto my shoulder bag strap with my left hand, I felt something pinch my left middle finger. I turned and freaked.

This does not require further comment. I freaked! Of course I did. It was NEXT TO MY FACE. I dropped the bag to the floor, well no, I THREW the bag onto the floor and in it... my precious iPhone did not enjoy the impact with the marble floors at Pisa Aiport.
Guess what though? Even though I did not use it for months then, it was still exchanged by the lovely Apple people (no further comments on that though).

But the iPhone... it doesn't really do it for me. I much prefer my shuffle for running and other sports, I don't like typing messages on it and even though it has helped me through boring times, it really did not work too well with my Italian prepaid contract in Italy.

Yesterday I finally received my new toy though. It is so nice, and shiny. It is white, and has a little Android face on the back. I can already say I love it.

It is such a nice phone. It has everything I need. It will still require me to sort out my contract in Italy (not so much in Germany at the moment) but it is lovely. A bit upset about the lack of Skype for it, but going to try some alternatives. The Android phone is definitely cool, and I love it.
Other gadgets I really want this summer are a new camera and a new netbook. Though I am not sure about the latter one yet. But it would be great!
